→ For the Waffles

12 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
13 - 1 tablespoon sugar
14 - 1 tablespoon baking powder
15 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
16 - 2 large eggs
17 - 1 3/4 cups milk
18 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
19 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ For Serving

20 - Maple syrup
21 - Honey butter (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Mix buttermilk with hot sauce if using. Add your chicken pieces and let them soak for at least an hour or overnight in the fridge.
02 - Mix flour with all the seasonings in a shallow dish. Take each piece of chicken from the buttermilk, let excess drip off, then coat really well in the seasoned flour.
03 - Heat oil to 350°F in a deep skillet. Fry the chicken in batches for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through to 165°F inside.
04 - Whisk together dry ingredients. In another bowl, mix wet ingredients. Pour wet into dry and stir just until combined - don't overmix!
05 - Make waffles in your waffle iron until golden. Top each waffle with a piece of hot fried chicken and drizzle with maple syrup or honey butter.

# Notes:

01 - Double-dip chicken in flour for extra crispiness
02 - Use more sugar in waffles if you prefer them sweeter
03 - Reheat leftovers in oven or air fryer to keep crispy
