Nutella Halva Buns (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dough

01 - Between 3 3/4 and 4 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, separated
02 - 1/3 cup granulated sugar
03 - Half a teaspoon of kosher salt
04 - 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast
05 - 6 tablespoons of butter, softened
06 - 3/4 cup milk, heated to about 110-115°F
07 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
08 - 2 teaspoons of freshly grated lemon zest
09 - 2 large eggs, at room temperature

→ Filling

10 - One jar of Nutella (13 ounces)
11 - 6 ounces of pistachio halva, crumbled into small bits
12 - A half cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

→ Optional Sugar Glaze

13 - Half a cup of granulated sugar
14 - 1/2 cup of water
15 - 2 tablespoons of butter

# Instructions:

01 - In the bowl of your stand mixer, mix together 1.5 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the softened butter in chunks and mix until the texture looks crumbly.
02 - Warm up the milk until it’s between 110°F and 115°F. Stir it together with the dry mix, then add the vanilla and lemon zest. Mix until it’s smooth.
03 - Beat the eggs into the mixture for a couple of minutes. Slowly add the rest of the flour until a solid dough forms. Knead it on a floured counter for about 5-7 minutes until it’s soft and springy.
04 - Place the dough ball into a greased bowl and coat it lightly. Cover with a towel and let it rise for one hour in a warm spot until it doubles in size.
05 - Split the dough into 8 equal parts. Roll out each one into a rectangle about 10x5 inches. Spread Nutella over each, sprinkle over the halva and chocolate chips, then roll it up tightly. Slice the roll in half lengthwise, twist the strips, and shape into knots.
06 - Let the shaped buns sit for 30 minutes to rise again. Bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. If you’re using the sugar glaze, brush it over the buns while they’re still hot.

# Notes:

02 - Keep in a container with a lid to keep fresh at room temperature.
03 - Warm up single buns by popping them in the microwave for 15 seconds.
