Sweet Cherry Bar (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 1 cup of softened butter
02 - 2 cups granulated sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon of table salt
04 - 4 eggs, kept at room temperature
05 - 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
06 - 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract
07 - 3 cups of plain flour

→ Filling

08 - 2 cans of cherry pie filling (21 ounces each)

→ Glaze

09 - 1 cup powdered sugar
10 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
11 - 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
12 - 2 to 3 tablespoons of 2% milk

# Instructions:

01 - Set oven to 350°F. Beat together butter, sugar, and salt until fluffy and pale, about 5–7 minutes. Add eggs one by one, mixing well between each, then stir in both extracts. Slowly work in the flour until just combined.
02 - Press 3 cups of the dough into a greased 15x10x1-inch baking dish. Cover evenly with the cherry pie filling. Spoon the rest of the dough in small dollops over the cherries.
03 - Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top turns a nice golden color. Let the pan cool completely on a wire rack before moving on.
04 - In a bowl, stir together the powdered sugar, extracts, and just enough milk to make a drizzling consistency. Pour over the cooled bars.
